Universities and community colleges have a unique opportunity to participate in the inaugural DOE Solar District Cup. This competition challenges student teams to reimagine how solar energy is produced, managed, and used on an urban district or campus.
The Solar District Cup encourages students to explore new career options, learn new skills, and engage in the professional market. It prepares them to be leaders of the next generation for distributed solar energy. As competitors, the students will:
Engage with industry leaders to form mentorships and connections to help them transition into the solar energy workforce after graduation.
Integrate real-world data on electricity and energy use constraints into the design and development of their energy system.
Build financial models and analyze data to evaluate land use, permits, and other regulations.
Experience real-life examples in the marketplace of integrated, innovative renewable energy designs
